Proserpina - guitar chords and comments

Lyrics without distraction HERE

19th of January 2010 Kate McGarrigle passed away, after fighting Sarcoma - a rare form of cancer - for 3 years. 9th of December, 4 weeks earlier, she performed on stage for the last time, together with family and friends at Royal Albert Hall, London in "A Not So Silent Night" - a charity concert, now annual, aiding the fund against cancer carrying her own name. She brought to the audience a brand new song: Proserpina.
Proserpina at Royal Albert Hall The song is a truncated version of roman mythology's explanation of why the seasons are changing. You'd better read about it HERE. The song is dedicated to her daughter Martha Wainwright, who guided her on stage that night (the keys she naturally found herself!) and waited for two years until she recorded it for her album "Come Home to Mama". Kate was out of time to record it, and I bet she knew. I got it from YouTube immediately after I received the bad and sad news.

Thank You, Kate. This was a dignified swan song from a great artist and songwriter.
