Steel Rail Blues - guitar chords and comments
Lyrics without distraction HERE
One of the most prolific artists and songwriters ever, Lightfoot's reputation is mainly based on songwriting. His career spans more than 5 decades, but outside of Canada his own recordings have only frequently reached the top. This song is from his solo debut album "Lightfoot!", recorded -64 and released -66 on United Artists. Same year, George Hamilton IV covered it with success, and this catchy tune has since then been recorded by an incredible lot of artists.

The bio I leave You with the icon at the bottom doesn't mention that Gordon Meredith Lightfoot Jr. [CC OOnt], born November 1938, died of natural causes at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto on May 1, 2023, at the age of 84.
Bless him ... and all canadian folk singers!
