Steel Rail Blues - chords, tab and comments

At the bottom you'll find a link to the complete lyrics.

One of the most prolific artists and songwriters ever, Lightfoot's reputation is mainly based on songwriting. His career spans more than 5 decades, but outside of Canada his own recordings have only frequently reached the top. This song is from his solo debut album "Lightfoot!", recorded -64 and released -66 on United Artists. Same year, George Hamilton IV covered it with success, and this catchy tune has since then been recorded by an incredible lot of artists.
G
well I got my mail late last night
                          G7 C
a letter from a girl who found the time to write
                                       G
to her lonesome boy somewheres in the night
     C
she sent me a railroad ticket too
                          G
to take me to her lovin' arms
                   Em D7 G
and the big steel rail gonna carry me home to the one I love
