neil young
In 1978, Neil Young returned to his folk roots, releasing the album "Comes a Time". It is a mix of various recordings for Reprise Records between november 1975 and november 1977, for the final release added some Crazy Horse and flavoured with harmony vocals by Nicolette Larson [pict], an artist most known for her background singing, despite her own fairly good solo production. She collaborated several times with Neil, once introduced by Linda Ronstadt, and for some time they also were close.
"Comes a Time" is a pleasent collection of songs, and this one is among my all time high Neil Young favorites. Incredibly, it's so far covered only once: Aaron Springfield in 1994.
Neil's vocal is so far from mine as can be; I'm bass baritone. Neil wrote this D major, and I play it A, with a few changes of "suspect" harmonies. The original tab is found on many other sites.
This song has resided here with wrong harmonies for ? many years. Once upon a time, as I transposed it to A key, I have probably imported chords from "Long May You Run", which is very similar ... and forgotten to adjust them. I didn't see it until a major rebuild of the entire site was required - you see, *I* didn't need the chords ...[-khw-]
what can I do ? what can I say ?
running down this suspicious highway
I can't forget how love let me down
when we meet it still gets in my way
your laughing eyes • your crazy smile
every time I look in his face
I can't believe how love lasts a while
and looks like forever in the first place
in my new life I'm travelling light
eyes wide open for the next move
I can't go wrong till I get right
but I'm not falling back in the same groove
we're already one • already one
now only time can come between us
cause we're already one • our little son
won't let us forget it
