johnny cash • roy cash jr
This song was first released as flip side of "Don't Take Your Guns to Town" 1958; the first Cash single on Columbia. It is co-written by Johnny's nephew Roy Cash Jr. - the only song he's ever been credited for - and is very simple. It can be harmonized more advanced, like adding minors and sevenths here and there. I usually like to do such things, but in this case I find it unnecessary. Less is more.
at my door the leaves are falling
a cold wild wind will come
sweethearts walk by together
and I still miss someone
I go out on a party
and search for a little fun
but I find this darkened corner
cause I still miss someone
you know I never got over those blue eyes
I see them everywhere
I missed those arms that held me
when all my love was there
I wonder if she sorries
for leaving what we had begun
there is someone for me somewhere
and I still miss someone
