Kitty Come

khawaga

Ambush This is a tribute to "Ambush", a tabby tomcat with colors like a fox. He usually arrived at six o'clock every morning, to wake me up and give him breakfast. Then he was hanging around throughout the day, leaving at sunset. One winter he disappeared all of a sudden. The days passed by, and I thought I'd lost him. Every morning I went down for the morning call; the neighbours probably considered me crazy. After ten days he was back, jolly as ever, but walking with a limb. His left backleg had an ugly scar. He'd probably been stuck in a carport or something, and gotten so injured he couldn't walk. I felt like winning the lottery. That creature meant more to me than any money.

on a cold white winter morning
«kitty come kitty come home»
from my doorstep give my calling
«kitty come kitty come home»
fur with ice and green eyes gleaming
give my life a deeper meaning
sip your milk and do your cleaning
«kitty come kitty come kitty come kitty come home»

In a tinseled springtime evening
«kitty come kitty come home»
hours passed since you were leaving
«kitty come kitty come home»
pussycats they occupy you
neighbour's tomcats will defy you
but your pa he won't deny you
«kitty come kitty come kitty come kitty come home»

when the summer nights are gentle
«kitty come kitty come home»
memories go sentimental
«kitty come kitty come home»
but your your cattail softly crimples
lick you tail and do your wimples
wish my life could be so simple
«kitty come kitty come kitty come kitty come home»

as the leaves are gently falling
«kitty come kitty come home»
leave your date and heed me calling
«kitty come kitty come home»
as the autumn chills my spine
you warm my heart and warm my mind and
you're so cozy and so fine and
«kitty come kitty come kitty come kitty come home»

[icon November 2024] This was written 2006. If Ambush is still alive he's more than 20 years old. Well, not impossible. I rented the 1st floor in the suburbs, the house was sold and I had to move to the center of town. No place for a cat like him, so I contacted the new owner and made a deal: I'd come every day to feed him while the house was rebuilt, then see what happens ... after 2 months I got the message «He's inside, allright».
I lived alone for 8 years, then ended up in rural areas, at last. A stray cat came to my door one morning in 2015, barely 1 year old. I later found out WHERE she came from, and found it was a thoroughbred norwegian forest cat. Noblicity! So now my Kitty is "Lady Shady aus die Giethuuser Waldkatzen", and I am Baron Khawaga von Giethuus.
I'm crazy about cats. Maybe just crazy.
