There's a Heartache Followin' Me - guitar chords and comments

Lyrics without distraction HERE

Written by Ray Baker, it was first released on Jim Reeves' album "Good 'n' Country" October 1963. This one has been on my mind ever since my childhood, though I didn't pick it up myself until recently.
The songwriter MAY be Ray Robert Baker, active in the fifties/sixties with "The Beavers & The Border Boys" and "His Happy Travelers", but I haven't been able to verify it.
A E7 A
sometimes they ask me if I'm really happy now
A Bm7 A
I say "sure I never loved her anyhow"
     D A Amaj7 Bm7
but inside I long for you and the way it used to be
        A E7 A
I look around and there's a heartache followin' me

A E7 A
I pawned my ring and everything that tied me to the past
   B7 E B7 E7
I say I never loved her never meant for it to last
       D A Amaj7 Bm7
but I know it's just a game and the loser's always me
         A E7 A
I look around and there's a heartache followin' me
